During the Civil War in the United States, 11 states broke away to form a new nation named the confederates. Loreta, a Cuban American, was the first woman that fought in the war. She disguised herself as a man to fight in the war, and named herself Harry T. Buford, who was 22 years old. Loreta became a general in battle, and worked as a spy later in the war. She was then shot while she was burying her soldiers who were killed in the Civil War.
