Hispanic Art in Holland, MI

There are many art forms in Holland, but there are only a few that represent Hispanic culture. The art represents that there are people from many places and cultures here in our city.

Near ninth street there is a mural of a Hispanic man. The mural is called “Tribute to the People,” by Jose Narezo. This mural represents that Holland shares many cultures including the Hispanic culture. This mural was the first public Hispanic art in Holland.

Also, in Kollen Park there is a fountain donated by Holland’s sister city, Santiago Queretaro, Mexico. This fountain symbolizes friendship between the cities.

In the Catholic church, St. Francis De Sales, there is an image of the Virgin Mary. St. Francis is a church with many different cultures as its members. In 1995 there was a fire in the church destroying it. During the remodeling the parish decided that it was necessary for the church to have an image that represented Hispanics and all cultures in Holland.

All these art forms represent all of the people in Holland. The art unites all the cultures and diverse groups that live in Holland.

También en el parque de Kollen hay una fuente donada por la hermana ciudad de Holland, Santiago Queretaro, Mexico. Esta fuente simboliza la amistad entre las ciudades.
