Hi, my name is Rogelio Nino.

The Mexican flag to a lot of people is just a rectangle divided in three colors; green, white and red with an eagle eating a snake in the middle, but all of that has a meaning to it.

The green symbolizes independence, independence that we obtained from Spain. Later on it changed to be a symbol of hope. The white represents catholicism and unity. When the flag was being designed the creators wanted to represent the faith the Mexican community had towards catholicism and later on it changed to a symbol of unity.

Initially the red represented the bond between the Spanish European and the Spanish American cultures. Later on it represented the blood from people that died in the war for the independence of Mexico.

Finally the eagle, the eagle with the snake in its mouth recognizes the Aztec heritage that we have in Mexico. Legend says that Aztec gods told the Aztec people to build their capital where they found an eagle eating a snake on top of a cactus.

Eventually they found it and built their capital and named it Tenochtitlan. Now a day that place is found in the center of Mexico City.

Voy a mandar el proyecto para la pagina de el mes de herencia hispana. La Bandera de México para mucha gente solo es un rectángulo dividido en tres colores; verde, blanco y rojo y una águila devorando una serpiente, pero todo eso tiene un significado.

El verde significa la independencia que obtuvimos de España. También es un símbolo de esperanza . El blanco significa el catolicismo y la unidad. Cuando se diseñó la bandera los creadores querían representar la fe mexicana hacia la religión católica más tarde se convirtió en una representación de unidad.

Inicialmente el rojo representaba la unión entre la gente española europea y la gente española norteamericana pero más tarde se convirtió en una representación de la sangre derramada por todos los guerreros que dieron su vida en la guerra donde su país logró independizarse de España.

Y finalmente la águila, la águila con la serpiente en su boca reconoce la herencia azteca en México.

Según la leyenda los dioses aztecas aconsejaron a la gente azteca construir su capital en donde vieran a una águila comiéndose una serpiente sobre un nopal y eventualmente los aztecas encontraron a esa águila en Tenochtitlan y construyeron su capital ahí. Hoy en dia ese lugar está encontrado en la plaza principal en la ciudad de México.
