8th Grade National History Day

Holland Public Schools was well-represented at the State contest for National History Day, hosted by Bay City Central High School.

Our 8th grade scholars (Teagan Wade, Autumn Bertram, and Camby Ket) presented their projects and handled the tremendous pressure of the judging sessions with the great academic expertise and skills they've been working on since October.

While Autumn and Camby received very high praise from the judges, their project fell short of the top 3 spots in their category (the top 2 are automatic finalists for the National Contest in June, 3rd place is an alternate, if either of the top 2 cannot make it to the contest).

We are pleased to announce that Teagan Wade has taken 3rd place in Individual Website, so she holds the Alternate spot for Nationals. She will not find out for sure if she will be going on to Nationals until May 9, so until then she will continue to improve her project.

We hope she will get that chance to go! Please congratulate each of these amazing young ladies when you see them because they have truly represented their school, their town, and their families and themselves with real DUTCH pride!

Thanks to all of you for your kind/generous support of our kids these 20 years of NHD. It is a wonderful, challenging process that annually builds the best research and presentation skills in our kids we could ever desire.
