HMS and HHS Bands shine at Festival!

I just wanted to make you aware of the incredible successes the Holland High School Bands and the Holland Middle School 8th Grade Band achieved at MSBOA District X Band Festival on Friday, February 28th, hosted at Jenison High School's Center for the Arts. The ensembles are adjudicated on three pieces they have prepared to perform for 3 adjudicators as well as on a piece they perform in sight-reading (performing a piece they have never seen before after only studying it for 5 minutes). The HHS Concert Band started the day off right with straight ones in performance and sight-reading for an overall Division 1 “Superior” rating! The HHS Wind Ensemble followed up with an overall Division 1 “Superior” rating as well, with two 1’s and one 2 in performance and a 1 in sight-reading! The HMS 8th Grade Band wrapped up the day with two 2’s in performance as well as one 1 and a 1 in sight-reading for a high Division 2 “Excellent” rating! I am so proud of all these ensembles! The work they put in for months in preparation for their performances certainly paid off! Enjoy the pics and please congratulate a HPS 8th-12th grade band member if you see them! Sincerely, Bethany Van Oss
