Black History Month at West

Third graders in Mrs. Kooyer’s class got together with their Kindergarten reading buddies from Ms. McFarland’s class to learn about famous African Americans as we celebrate Black History Month. Kindergarteners chose who they wanted to learn about and the third graders did research on the person their Kindergarten chose and met later to share the information they found. Then, together students made a poster telling what they learned. They can be found hanging on the Kindergarten students’ lockers. Look for Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges, Frederick Douglass, Barack Obama, Jackie Robinson, Jesse Owens and many more.
