GVSU Jazz Professor Visits the HHS Jazz Band
The Holland High School Jazz Band was fortunate enough to receive a clinic from Grand Valley University's Director of Jazz Ensembles, Professor Tim Froncek, on Thursday, November 14th. Professor Froncek offered his expertise to the ensemble in preparation for their annual Guest Artist Jazz Band Concert on Thursday, November 21st in the HHS Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m., which will feature renowned jazz artists, Tom Knific on bass, his son Gene Knific on piano, and the Holland Concert Jazz Orchestra's very own Jordan VanHemert on sax. These fantastic artists will be playing with the full HHS Jazz Band as well as the HHS Jazz Combo, made up of select students from the HHS Jazz Band. "Coconut Champagne," by Denis Diblasio, Henry Mancini's "Charade, as well as "Stompin' At The Savoy," by Duke Ellington, Chick Webb, & Edgar Sampson, and "Things Ain't What They Used To Be" by Mercer Ellington, were all on the setlist, and Professor Froncek offered incredibly valuable critique. The HHS Jazz Band thanks Professor Froncek for listening to us!
