GVSU Sax Quartet Visits the HMS and HHS Bands

After a very busy week of Tulip Time parades, it was time for some rest and relaxation, but the learning continued as the HMS 7th and 8th Grade Bands as well as the HHS Wind Ensemble were treated to a performance from four very talented members of the Grand Valley State University Saxophone Quartet. The quartet, made up of music education and music performance students, not only performed a vast array of very challenging music but also took questions from the students. Students learned everything from how special, more modern techniques on the saxophone are executed to how many hours a day college music majors are expected to practice. The HPS Band students not only came away with useful musical knowledge but also a renewed appreciation for how exciting music can be when the performers are truly passionate about their craft. The HPS Bands are very grateful to the members of the GVSU Sax Quartet for sharing their gift of music with us!
